Terms of Service
Clear, author-friendly terms governing your use of ISBN Publishing, official ISBN allocations, and distribution services.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing, browsing, or using the website and services provided by ISBN Publishing (isbnpublishing.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree to all provisions of these Terms, you must immediately discontinue your use of our website and services.
2. Description of Services
ISBN Publishing provides an integrated platform for independent authors and publishers to:
- ISBN Assignment: Allocate official 13-digit International Standard Book Numbers (ISBNs) with automated bibliographic submission to global databases such as Bowker Books in Print®.
- Book-Centric Management: Organize book listings, format breakdowns (Paperback, Hardcover, eBook, Audiobook), and publishing milestones under dedicated author dashboards.
- Global Distribution: Coordinate distribution channels across 40,000+ retailers, libraries, and online marketplaces (including Amazon, Ingram, and Barnes & Noble).
- Professional Publishing Services: Coordinate cover design, manuscript interior formatting, editorial reviews, and marketing campaign orders.
3. Author Ownership & Royalties (100% Rights Guarantee)
You retain 100% of all intellectual property, copyright, and royalties.
ISBN Publishing operates on a non-exclusive service model. We do not claim any copyright, trademark, publishing rights, or percentage of book royalties generated through your book sales. All ISBNs are registered under your designated publisher/imprint name.
You retain full freedom to distribute, print, sell, and license your works through any retail platform, printer, or distributor of your choosing at any time.
4. Book Listings & Metadata Accuracy
Under the Book-First Model of ISBN Publishing, authors must create a private book listing before assigning ISBNs:
- Author Responsibility: Authors are solely responsible for ensuring the accuracy of submitted metadata (Title, Subtitle, Author Name, Publisher Imprint, Edition, Language, and Format).
- International Registry Immutability: In accordance with international ISBN agency regulations, once an ISBN is assigned and submitted to international bibliographic catalogs (such as Bowker), core identifier details cannot be reallocated or transferred to a completely different title or author.
- Format Specificity: Each published edition format (Paperback, Hardcover, eBook, Audiobook) requires a distinct 13-digit ISBN. Reusing an assigned eBook ISBN for a physical paperback is strictly prohibited by international ISBN agency standards.
5. Barcode Policy & External Generation
ISBN Publishing assigns and registers official 13-digit ISBN codes. In accordance with standard platform policy:
Our platform provides you with the verified numerical 13-digit ISBN and global database indexing. We do not generate, host, or sell standalone graphical barcode files.
Authors can generate print-ready, high-resolution vector and raster barcodes (EPS, SVG, PNG) at no cost by using free external tools such as ISBNBarcode.org .
6. Pricing, Payments & Refund Policy
A. Instant Digital ISBN Allocation (Non-Refundable)
Because official 13-digit ISBN codes are generated immediately upon checkout and registered with international bibliographic databases (Bowker), ISBN assignments represent instant digital goods and are strictly non-refundable.
B. Additional Publishing Services (100% Pre-Work Refund)
For additional services (cover design, book formatting, print book description, editing), authors are eligible for a 100% full refund if requested before work has started on the order. Once our team commences production (status marked as "In Progress" on your dashboard order page), the service is non-refundable. For full details, review our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
7. Analytics, Tracking & Privacy Compliance
By using our website, you acknowledge and agree that ISBN Publishing uses analytics and marketing tracking technologies as disclosed in our Privacy Policy:
- Google Analytics: We collect aggregate web traffic and usage statistics to monitor site performance and user experience.

8. Account Security & Prohibited Conduct
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree not to:
- Submit fraudulent or plagiarized book titles, author identities, or publisher imprints.
- Attempt to reassign, resell, or distribute assigned ISBN codes to third parties outside of our authorized platform workflows.

9. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
ISBN Publishing provides its platform and services on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we guarantee the assignment of legitimate, internationally registered 13-digit ISBNs, we do not guarantee specific book sales numbers, commercial success, or third-party retailer listing acceptance beyond standard industry catalog indexing.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ISBN Publishing shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from the use or inability to use our platform.
10. Termination & Support Inquiries
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that engage in fraudulent publishing activities or violate international ISBN agency policies.
